day 16 a little ride in the park

Today we waited for the water man to come until noon. That is the drop dead latest time he said he'd be here. NO WATER MAN! He didn't show again! The landlord, Emilia, said that companies in Poland have a "monopoly" and they don't have to take care of their customer. What? seriously?! I am opening a water company! Anyway, by noon we were totally done sitting around for the umpteenth day in a row... and so we took the scooters for a ride in a park that we've driven past a hundred times and wanted to see since our first day in Lublin. It was AWESOME! The park was so big that in the hour and a half that we were there we barely made it through half the park! It had huge trees, an occasional red squirrel running around, cool paths and hills to ride scooters on, an ampatheater, a fountain, a pink flower patch, an underground disgusting bathroom, a kids playground and a gajillion park benches... Oh... and teenagers making out with each other all over the place. Why were they not in school? Today was the first day, you know.

Kids scooter feet... These scooters were cheap. But they worked great! On the hills McKay successfully burned out the break on the back tire and actually melted his tire flat. We decided that if we couldn't find a replacement wheel than his low riding in the back will be very cool and very bouncy while the other kids ride smooth! Appearantly the wheels are rubber.

This is just one of the many looooong paths in the park. I didn't keep up with the kids too well since they were on scooters and I was in flip flops! Yep! The only woman in flip flops not on the beach in all of Lublin! :) I'm trying to set a new trend.

We didn't know the park was going to be so fun on these scoots. But when it was time to go we already had plans to return another day! We can't wait until the leaves change color in this park! WOW! And then when there is snow all over it is going to be a wonderland! :)

Cutie Bailey, my little side kick... She is trying hard to enjoy hanging out with 2 very wild boys who love everything she loathes! She is doing a good job!

After walking around this park for 45 minutes we found this ampatheater. I can't wait for a concert in the park! I wonder how I find out that info? There was a lady mopping the stage! I'm going back on Friday night to see if something is happening!

There were tons of benches and cute little old peeps, and young peeps, sitting around just loving the impeccable weather! I had to pinch myself to see if it was real! It was almost too beautiful and movie like for me to be walking around in! This is definately my FAVORITE park so far!

This wall lines one of the staircases leading from the sidewalk to the park entrance. Everything was amazing!

Today I learned that there are worse bathrooms in this world than the Happy valley mcDonald's bathroom. Yep! Good old Lublin park has the worst underground bathrooms ever! I think we were supposed to pay... there was a pay station but the doors were open and nobody was there. We couldn't read the sign... So we didn't pay. It was to make up for the 3 scoop ice cream cone rip off yesterday... :) haha.. I taught Bailey the art of squat, wipe with your own kleenex (which I always have on hand) and flush with your foot. Flushing gets a little tricky when the flush buttons are half way up the wall. We were trying not to touch anything while standing on one leg and lifting the other to the button. Good times! And then another kleenex to open the stall door lift the faucet (which they call a battery). When we got out of the jons the boys were thinking they would go down into one... We told them just to pee on the trees.

That does look like a beautiful park and it will be amazing in the winter. We think about calling you every day but realize we would have to call you at 8:00am just to catch you, before we go to school. But we do think and talk of you everyday!!!

I am glad you added pictures of the park, because I was thinking of a park like Freestone in Gilbert... then WOW... you're not in arizona! :) Your house is really cool looking. What a neat experience you guys get to have! I saw your husband was called as Branch President. Who knew you would be building the Lords kingdom in Poland? :)

That looks amazing! I bet the weather is great now... but I bet it will be different in a few months.... :) The squat and pee method is a skill that will be useful for her lifetime. Keep us posted on the amphitheater. It looks so cool! I wonder what kind of events they do there!
